Important Information Concerning Membership

Merry Meet!

It is necessary that you read the following completely before moving on to the membership application. AREN National is now making a policy that requires all Members, Representatives, and Directors to contact AREN and seek permission from the Board Of Directors before launching any type of campaign in the name of "AREN". what does that mean? Basically it means, follow the rules set below...

  1. If a situation warrants action, you must first bring it to the attention of AREN National by way of phone call, letter, or email before speaking in any form of official capacity. AREN has a staff of legal advisors that need to verify that whatever claim has been brought to our attention is legitimate.
  2. If one is to speak officially in the name of AREN without the approval of the Board of Directors, AREN National may have no choice but to deny involvement in the matter depending on the circumstance.
Does this sound harsh? Yes. Is it necessary? Yes. Why? Let us tell you. AREN National receives many claims of unfair treatment and discrimination on a daily basis. Some are legitimate. Some are not. Each request we receive is run through our board of legal advisors for legal validity before the matter is dealt with. It is also researched completely. Sometimes we come across "discrimination" cases that are false. For example...a mother has lost custody of her child because she is Wiccan. While at first glance, this seems like something AREN will deal with, the board of legal advisors uncovers information that this mother is physically abusive to her child. Therefore, AREN will not associate itself with her and will not take on the "case" so to speak. AREN does not condone physical abuse of any person. Sometimes representatives go off half cocked and full of energy to fight without either being able to check into the whole story, or before he/she has the whole story. It is for this reason that AREN National has set up this guideline.

As a prospective member, you must review this two simple guidelines and adhere to them before you sign up. AREN is trying very hard to continue our reputation of legitimacy and "Harm Ye None" philosophy. Please, if you come across a possible discrimination case, bring it to our attention first. If warranted, AREN will approve your request to deal with the matter and you will be able to speak in an official manner. Remember, nothing is stopping you from contacting people of a prospective discrimination case as a private citizen, but don't affix the name AREN to any correspondances until the case has been reviewed.

Thank you for your consideration and your time.

Brightest Blessings,
The AREN Board of Directors and Executive Staff
