1) THE CONDITION OF PAGANISM IN EUROPE CAN APPEAR AS A PARADOX IN MANY WAYS
By Diane Sasse

For one, Pagan culture is a direct root of European heritage and can be felt in an very intensive way, because archeological sites, greater ones but also countless minor ones, are found nearly everywhere. Recognizable basics of the essence of pagan faith can be tracked back in history, even beyond antique cultures: For example, Göbekli Tepe in Turkey, the oldest known cult edifice, that has some similarities with Stonehenge - and don’t forget the “sky disk of Nebra”, an approximately 3600-year-old artifact that depicts the sky with indicators for solstices and equinoxes – the oldest known realistic rendering of the sky that probably served both astronomical as well as religious purposes.     MORE

2) WICCAN CHURCH FIGHTING RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION BY THE US ARMY
From Sacred Well Congregation

Due to several clearly discriminatory acts, followers of one of the country's fastest growing religions have once again been denied their own military chaplain. In the spring of this year, Chaplain (CPT) Donald M. Larsen contacted the Sacred Well Congregation (SWC) to discuss sponsorship options. Until August 2, 2006, Chaplain Larsen was the respected and loved Battalion Chaplain of the 3-135 AVN Regiment deployed to Balad, Iraq. On August 3, 2006, Chaplain Larsen's sponsorship was abruptly withdrawn by the Chaplaincies of Full Gospel Churches (CFGC), Dallas, Texas, and he was ordered to immediately cease and desist all religious activities as a chaplain. His career is now severely jeopardized, and the Battalion he deployed with is deprived of their chaplain. Chaplain Larsen's only sin was that he entered into a dialogue with the Sacred Well Congregation - a Wiccan Church.    MORE

3) EIDOLON FOUNDATION NEW IN CHARLOTTE, N.C.
By Christopher Blackwell

I am interviewing Mobius, who is President of the Eidolon Foundation.

Editor: What does Eidolon mean? What is the Eidolon Foundation?

Mobius: EIDÔLON is an ancient Greek word meaning "the image of an ideal". We have chosen this name because we at the Eidolon Foundation wish to create reality out of our dreams and ideals. The Eidolon Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Eidolon Foundation was created to help support minority religions and alternative spiritual traditions in Charlotte and the surrounding area. We received our official letter of incorporation from the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State on August 9, 2006. We are currently working on our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt paper work, and hope to have that finalized within the next few months.    MORE

4) INTERVIEW WITH ROBERT CARLTON JONES, M.D.
Former Lieutenant Colonel of the
U. S. Air Force Medical Corps
Pagan and Author.
By Christopher Blackwell

Editor: You had a pretty good idea what you wanted in a career and worked quite hard to get it. The Air Force requires a great deal from its doctors, doesn’t it?

Jones: I had wanted to become a physician since age 5. I was a very sickly kid...almost died from pneumonia when I was three...and I remembered vividly how many doctors worked to save my life. I started my pre-med course work in ninth grade at Eleanor Roosevelt Science and Technology Center in Greenbelt, Maryland; from that time until my graduation from residency in 1994, I was pretty monomaniacally focused on being the best physician and anesthesiologist I could be.    MORE

ONE PENTACLE DOWN
By Christopher Blackwell

In the fight to get pentacles approved for headstones of Wiccan and Pagan veterans there was a surprise development. The state of Nevada got a legal opinion through the state’s Attorney General’s Office that concluded that federal officials have no authority over state veteran cemeteries.    MORE
