| 1) Heathens, Past, Present and Future Interview with Uncle Thor |
No one person, man or woman, can speak for Heathens as a whole because Heathens are remarkably diverse and that is as it should be. Nevertheless, that does not mean that there are not many people in the Heathen community that care greatly about what it is or could be. One of these, on line. calls himself Uncle Thor. I am personally drawn to him because he cares about his community as deeply as I am personally care about my own Wiccan community. He shows it in what he clearly admits to being his own personal opinions but which he gives to encourage more thought on the past, present, and future of being Heathen. I thought this interview we could explore some of his own concerns and hopes for the Heathen community. ..........More |
| 2) Moondance, FallFling, The Hazel Nut, Church of the Spiral Tree, Sacred Grove Academy Interview with Linda Kerr By Christopher Blackwell |
It is amazing how active some people are in their community and for the most part not all that well known outside of their own areas. Recently I had a lady suggest someone to interview and here were a few reasons she was suggesting this other lady. How about starting a Pagan festival, publishing a magazine, founding a church, and providing for Pagan homeschooling? Sound intimidating? Gee and I only put together an E-zine. So I thought it was time that I interview this very busy lady in Alabama, Linda Kerr. I contacted her and she was kind enough to agree. ..........More |
| 3) Godi of Falcon Kindred Interview with Troy Wisehart By Christopher Blackwell |
From one of the Heathen forums I had a person suggest that I interview Troy Wisehart, who is the godi for the Falcon Kindred in the Olympia/Yelm area of Washington State. So I got in touch with Troy for this interview and thought that we all might get a better idea just what is involved with being a godi. Christopher: Could you give us a bit of an idea who you are and how long you have been an Heathen. Troy: My name is Troy Wisehart. I am 48 years old and have been a Heathen for about eleven years. I live in the Olympia area in Washington State where Falcon Kindred's Hof is located. The kindred leases 4 acres from our Vice President Alf Herigstad's parents and we hold all our events there. We call it Falconstead. ..........More |
| 4) High Priestess and also National Coordinator Pagan Fed. Interview with Lady Bara By Christopher Blackwell |
I am in touch with three different groups in Europe. But the one I have the most contact with is Pagan Federation International. Though it I keep up a bit with what is happening in other parts of the world. Lady Bara is both an Alexandrian High Priestess and also national coordinator for the Netherlands in the PFI. Christopher: Could you give my readers a little back ground about yourself as person? Lady Bara: I have been trained and initiated in the traditional Alexandrian Wicca in 1987 by Elsy Kloeg and Kobus van Doorne who were trained and initiated by Alex and Maxine Sanders. ..........More |
| 5) A Siedhworker, Writer and Songwriter Interview with Frigga Asraaf By Christopher Blackwell |
I put up a request for ideas of p999eople to interview in one of my European forums Pagan Federation International and that was how I came in contact with Frigga Asraaf in the Netherlands. As it turns out she is a member of Asatru, a seidhworker, writer and songwriter. Christopher: Could you tell our readers a bit about yourself? How did you come to Asatru and how long you have practiced? Frigga: Frigga is a name given to me by the gods, not long after I became an asatruar. But let me start introducing myself with my birth in 1960 on the mountain of a giantess, according to a folk tale. In Holland this means only a couple of metres above sea level, and has nothing to do with an actual mountain, not even a hill. ..........More |
| 6) Wisteria Community and Campground Interview with Charlene Suggs By Christopher Blackwell |
I was already vaguely aware of Wisteria Campground as it is a place where a variety of Pagan events take place. But it was one of the people, who I had interviewed, that suggested it might be of interest to learn more about it and directed me to Charlene Suggs so that I could learn a bit more about what is an intentional community as well as an event campground. Christopher: Could you give us a bit of information about yourself, the path you follow and how long you have been with the Wisteria Community. ..........More |
| 7) Practice for Systemic Ritual Interview with Daan van Kampenhout By Christopher Blackwell |
Shamanism and practices that start from shaman practice and then grow and develop their own way are always an interesting subject. I had a person on one of my European boards suggest that I look into Daan van Kampenhout and what he calls Practice for Systemic Ritual. I checked out his web page and then asked if I could interview him. He was going to a retreat but said he would get back to me afterward. Christopher: Could you tell us a bit about your back ground, who you are as a person? Daan: I am a 47 year old man, raised more or less Christian but with a partial Jewish background which in my twenties became important for me and which is sort of re-claimed. I am gay and live in a relationship with my partner Oscar for twenty years now. I live in Amsterdam - if you are a gay Jew practicing shamanism, Amsterdam is probably the best place to live, except New York! ..........More |
| 8) Book Review; The Lost Art of Enochian Magic Angles, Invocations and the Secrets Revealed to Dr. John Dee Author John DeSalvo, Ph.D.; ISBN 978-159477344-0 By Christopher Blackwell |
Dr. John Dee was the court astrologer for Queen Elisabeth I. Under her reign he prospered, showing that during a time of witchcraft persecution it was important whom you had as your friend in the royal court. Later under King James I, who had a great fear of Witches and magic, Dr. Dee would gradually have to sell of parts of his library to survive in his old age. To the world of ceremonial magic he is best known for what is called Enochian Magic, which Dr. Dee claimed was given to him by angels in the angelic language. The sole legitimate use of magic was to bring a person closer to God and Enochian Magic did this by bringing the magician through 30 angelic realms from Realm 30 nearest the material world to Realm 1, just below God. ..........More |
